Ronni Julia
Hello, my name is Ronni Julia Kobrin.
My journey has taken many twists and turns, through different countries, cities, careers, and lifestyles, though art has been a constant in my life. Clay has been my preferred medium since I was a young child; I used to dig up clay in my backyard when I was 6 years old.
While working for the LA School District as an interpreter for the Deaf, I discovered my talent and passion for teaching and knew I had found my calling. Since then I have worked with all ages and abilities teaching art, sign language, and yoga.
Life led me to motherhood, raising my kids in Oregon, and managing the family art business. Learning to juggle family and work and the task of keeping it all organized and flowing within the same space was an overwhelming experience that has given me skills no classroom could provide.
In the spring of 2013, I could no longer pretend all was well. Though my life looked complete on the outside, something was missing on the inside. I attended a 10-day silent Vipassana Course and opened the gates to my inner journey.
During my first course, I realized the hole inside me didn’t exist. We are whole and complete just as we are. It felt like the despair that surrounded my heart had floated away. This experience led me towards yoga in a way I was unable to connect to in the past.
I had spent years searching for a way to stop the pain from a car accident in my early 20s. The accident weakened my spine, but it was the mental and emotional stress I was enduring that ignited debilitating pain.
I learned that trauma gets lodged in our tissues and held in our bodies, and that Somatic practices like yoga allow us to release it.
I have transformed my life from what I thought it was supposed to be into a life that represents my true values. Guided by my inner truth and with awareness of myself and love for myself, I have forged a path of my own. Everything I offer here is in service of assisting you in your own knowing and your own journey.
“Truth is not something outside to be discovered, it is something inside to be realized.” - Buddha
